Optometrist Dr. Michael Vaske is offering a significant discount on eye exams in order to assist people who need vision check-up in tandem with helping his community food pantry.

For $39, patients will receive a comprehensive eye exam with all proceeds going to the Parker Task Force Food Bank or the patient’s favorite charity.

Dr. Vaske was inspired to produce this community effort after reading a report in the new York Times about how an increasing number of Americans are going hungry.

He notes that many of these people have also lost their jobs and can therefore no longer afford to go to an eye doctor.

Eye examinations may detect potentially treatable blinding eye diseases, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, or signs of tumors or other anomalies of the brain.

“I want to do my part to ensure that Americans stay healthy and to help those who are going hungry by sponsoring this food drive for the residents of our community,” explains Dr. Vaske.

Parker CO Optometrist Youth can compete in Good Deed contest

Parker CO Optometrist Youth can compete in Good Deed contest

Dr. Vaske launched a Good Deed Contest in September which will end on December 01, 2011. The contest is open to any youth 18 years of age and under.

Children are urged to join the Good Deed Contest by submitting an essay about a good deed they have accomplished.

Dr. Vaske will be giving away a brand new computer to the winner who submits the best essay. Whether helping a senior citizen cross the street or helping an elderly woman with her groceries, or organizing a fund-raiser at school to help other children in the community who are less fortunate, tell your good deed story to Dr. Vaske and you could win a computer.

“We believe that children deserve a helping hand to make their own choice of what is right or wrong, to make their own choice of how to reach their goals without compromising their morals,” explains Dr. Vaske.
